Down-to-Earth Fun on the Farm
Our smallholding consists of 33 acres of land within the North Wessex Downs National Landscape. Its packed with archaeology and from the top of the hill it contains stunning panoramic views across to the West Woods and Marlborough Downs.
Our land is mainly pasture. Our passion and mission is to work alongside nature, creating a more biodiverse ecosystem. As part of our mission we decided to create an orchard, so in 2022 we planted 50 fruit trees on the farm. We also have a 16 acre field of chalk grassland that we grow as a wildflower meadow. We cut and graze this land at certain times of the year to encourage as many wildflowers as possible.
We have horses, sheep, alpacas, ducks, chicken and a pig who live on the farm!
In 2021 Sarah was successful in applying for and getting a 5 year Countryside Stewardship mid-tier agreement. This agreement means that the government financially supports our environmentally aware way of farming. The agreement includes educational farm visits for school aged children. This funding expires in December 2026 but we hope to get further funding so that we can continue our educational farm visits.
The children love to help on the farm and in the orchard. They have hands on learning about farming in an environmentally aware way. If you think your school would benefit from this please get in touch.
